Improving Overall Speed
December 11, 2011 in
In order to reduce the amount of time spent waiting for pages to load, I have turned off all plugins that are not in daily use.
I have not deleted them. I have just network deactivated them.
Many are maintenance tools that can be turned on during maintenance and turned off when we are done with them.
Doing this appears to have significantly improved overall performance.

More goo feedback that should be attached to the issue in the log.

Hi Shaun.
We need to address this page speed issue.
Several times today already I have been on the phone with customers trying to help them make purchases from the Pro Shop.
When we have to page around looking at programs or racquets and it takes 10 to 15 seconds for every page to load, a 10-minute conversation turns into a 25-minute marathon.
All the while, customers are dropping snide comments about the speed of the website.
They seem to believe that it indicates there are other problems that make the site unreliable.

1) As predicted, a good look at our plugins helped us identify the performance culprit. BP Group Hierarchy was costing us 67% of our load time (an additional unnecessary 7 seconds on every load). It is disabled now and load times are more than acceptable. We need to create an issue to find an alternative solution for group hierarchy.
2) Performance will be further enhanced again with our move to the new account.
Closing.
