This box league has been operating continuously since 2004. It features competitive players who like to play and keep score. It has strict rules which are designed to foster a competive atmosphere. Participants are required to communicate effectively with other players and to set up their matches as soon as a new month gets underway.
Racquet Network box leagues are designed for competitive players at the intermediate level and above. They are not recommended for beginners or for players who are playing for non-competitive reasons. Players who are looking for a non-competitive social experience are advised to join one of our social ladders.
Tennis League Orientation
The Calgary Indoor Tennis Box League is for competitive players who want to play against other competitive players. All participants are screened in order to ensure that they understand the rules and are willing to respect them. For this reason, new players must attend an orientation session at our Calgary store located at 4 10015 Oakfield Dr SW prior to being granted admission.
Tennis League Entry
All new players must enter through the lowest open position and play their way up. Eventually, they rise into a box with other players at their level.
Five Day Rule
New boxes are created on the first day of every month. BEFORE THE END OF THE FIFTH DAY OF EACH NEW MONTH all players are required to login, check their boxes, contact their opponents and make arrangements to play their matches. Players who ignore this rule may be eliminated by league administrators.
Reporting Scores
Match winners must report scores to the scorekeeping application on the website within 24 hours AND before midnight on the last day of the month. In other words, when games are played on the last day of the month winners will have less than 24 hours to report their scores.
PLAY OR DIE Rule
Racquet Network box leagues operate on a strict play-or-die basis. This means that participants must play at least one match every month that the league is active. Players who do not play — FOR ANY REASON — are eliminated.
NO-WINS-ELIMINATION Rule
In order to protect the integrity of this league and to ensure that the players participating in it are able to enjoy themselves, all participants are required to demonstrate competiveness by winning at least one game every three months. Players who are unable to win at least one game over a three month period will be eliminated from the league.
