Recommended Squash Pathway

STEP 1 – Learn the basics with squash lessons
STEP 2 – Play and get fit in a squash drop-in program.
STEP 3 – Join a squash box league
STEP 4 – Join an interclub squash team
STEP 5 – Compete in local tournaments

Racquet Network has programs in place to help players take all five steps. Players meet other players at their level at every step along the way. Some players become friends. Some become rivals. Either way, players in our programs often tell us that they are playing squash more often and at a higher level than at any other point in their lives.

Calgary Squash League – Fall/Winter Box League

This popular Calgary squash league was started by Racquet Network founder Brent Johner. It was the first Racquet Network box league and it has operated continuously (October through April) since its inception in 2004. Most players are at the intermediate level. Advanced players are found in the top boxes. Beginners are found in the lower boxes.

Matches are arranged by the players themselves and tend to occur at these public squash facilities:

  • Acadia Recreation Complex
  • Mount Royal University
  • Oakridge Racquet Club
  • Southland Leisure Centre
  • University of Calgary
  • West Hillhurst Health Club
  • Fish Creek Sports Club
  • SAIT
Squash League – Respect

All participants are required to demonstrate respect for the rules and respect for their opponents.

Squash League Entry

All new players must enter through the lowest open position and play their way up. Eventually, they rise into a box with other players at their level.

Squash League – Five Day Rule

New boxes are created on the first day of every month. BEFORE THE END OF THE FIFTH DAY OF EACH NEW MONTH all players are required to login, check their boxes, contact their opponents and make arrangements to play their matches. Players who ignore this rule and thereby disrespect their opponents may be eliminated by league administrators.

Squash League – Reporting Scores

Match winners must report scores to the scorekeeping application on the website within 24 hours AND before midnight on the last day of the month. In other words, when games are played on the last day of the month winners will have less than 24 hours to report their scores.

PLAY OR DIE Rule

Racquet Network box leagues operate on a play-or-die basis. This means that participants must play at least one match every month that the league is active. Players who do not play — FOR ANY REASON — are eliminated and must start over.

NO REFUNDS

Registration fees are non-refundable.
