STEP 4 - LEARN TO PLAY TENNIS. Join us Monday and Friday evenings this summer (2012) and learn how to play tennis. This recreational tennis lessons program for adults is open to beginners who want to learn the rules and etiquette of tennis and eventually join a RECREATIONAL TENNIS LEAGUE in Calgary. Our most popular outdoor Calgary tennis league is back for 2012. Space is limited so register early. Join us Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings this summer for co-ed tennis at Oakridge. This recreational tennis league for adults is open to intermediate players who are capable of both serving and sustaining a rally. A professional grade ball machine is available for players to practice with. Drop-in numbers may vary with the weather. The supervising pro will determine the format of each session based on attendance. Players should expect to play both doubles and/or singles depending on turnout, court space and weather. STEP 1 - TENNIS FOR ADULT BEGINNERS was launched in Calgary in 2005. Since then, we have taught more than 100 adult tennis player the basics and helped them move on to STEP 2. Tennis for Adult Beginners starts at the beginning. Players in this program are taught how to hold a tennis racquet, how to hit a tennis ball and how to move around the court. Most players are at the intermediate level. Advanced players are found in the top boxes. Beginners are found in the lower boxes. Matches are arranged by the players themselves and tend to occur at the Calgary Tennis Academy in Glenmore Athletic Park just northwest of the corner of Crowchild Trail and Glenmore Trail. The Calgary Tennis Ladder has been operating year round since June 2004. Players of all levels are welcome. New players pay a one-time-only admission fee. As long as they play and report at least one match per year, they do not have to pay any additional fees. Inactive players are removed from the league one year after reporting their last scores. Calgary tennis lessons. This 90-minute program uses balls and racquets suitable for kids 7-13 years old. Instruction takes place on 40′ courts and focuses on essential strokes and skills including forehand, backhand, volley and serve. More than tennis lessons. Racquet Network's Calgary-wide network of tennis players makes it easy for tennis players to meet other tennis players at their level and begin playing tennis regularly. We offer leagues and lessons all year round. This tennis lessons package includes court time (value $20.00) and a one-hour lesson for a single tennis player in Calgary. The content of the lesson is determined via consultation with the student and can include instruction suitable for new or intermediate players.
